Anger Devotional: Thursday, February 11

Begin with prayer and ask the Lord to help you to be slow to anger and to pursue holiness in all areas of your life.

Read James 1:19-21: Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

Today were you “slow to anger?”  The reason sinful anger is destructive and unhelpful is that it is selfish and concerned only for self and unconcerned with others, but more importantly unconcerned with the Truth of God.  How in your own life have you noticed that your anger has robbed you of humility and love for Christ and others?

Pray that God will help you to “put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your soul” (1:21).
