Gluttony Devotional: Wednesday, March 9

Begin with prayer, asking God to draw you close to Him.

Read Proverbs 28:7: The one who keeps the law is a son with understanding, but a companion of gluttons shames his father.

Following the behavior of others can be foolish and this Proverb is clear in that regard.  Do you blindly follow others without taking into account their life-style?

Sin brings shame to our lives that is why we try so hard to hide our sinful behavior.  But, not only does it shame us it does shame those around us as well.  Our gluttonous behavior affects us, but also our family and friends.  Who in your life would you hate to shame?  Why that person?  What is it about them that you look up to?

Ask God, by His grace, to help you live a guilt and shame free life.  Open-up to Him about your sin and seek reconciliation through the Cross of Christ.
