Lust Devotional: Wednesday, February 17

Begin with prayer. Ask God to give you a passion for seeking Him.

Read 1 John 2:15-17: Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in Him. For all that is in the world - the desires of flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life - is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

The warning here is to oppose a devotion to the world and its sinful ways.  In what ways do you reject the world?  In what ways do you sinfully embrace the world?

The “desires of the eyes” (v. 16) is literally the “cravings/lust of the eyes” referring to sexual desires that are enticed by sight.  How have your eyes become twisted, taking some thing beautiful and distorting it to sin?

In what ways are you pursing the “will of God” (v. 17) in regards to your sexuality?

Close in prayer. Ask God to give you an understanding of what His will is.
