Pride Devotional: Monday, February 1
Begin with prayer, ask Jesus to reveal to your pride and your need for humility. Pray also that God would open your heart and mind to His Word.
Read Proverbs 16:18-19: How much better to get wisdom than gold! To get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver. The highway of the upright turns aside from evil; whoever guards his way preserves his life. Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. It is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poor than to divide the spoil with the proud.
When has your pride made a mess out of a situation in your life? What was the cause?
The writer of the Proverb says that pride leads to arrogance and arrogance leads to destruction, why are pride and arrogance so harmful?
Verse 19 basically says that it is better to be humble and be with the poor than prideful and with the rich, do you value humility more than you do material things and wealth?
Close your time in prayer. Pray that you'll depend on Jesus. Give Jesus thanks and gratitude for what He’s already done in your life. Surrender your day to Him.
