Sermon Snippets: 2 September 2018
The community of God is on mission with God.
One of the overarching themes of the Bible and even of Christianity is community. We cannot grow spiritually if we are not connected relationally. We need community.
Jesus said plainly, “I give you a new command: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you are to love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:34-35).
Too many churches, too many Christian communities are exclusive and gated.
Jesus has authority over every nation, every demon, every disease, every person, every day, every thing, even over life and death.
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age (Matthew 28:19-20).
Matthew 28:18-20 is known as the Great Commission not the great suggestion.
The disciples believed everything that Jesus said and did. So they went. They were compelled to tell others about the eternal hope that is found in Jesus. The community of God is on mission with God.
Whoever is in your life that does not yet know Jesus, pray for them, tell them, teach them and show them the love and grace of Jesus Christ.
And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age (28:20). As you live your life, as you make disciples, Jesus is with you....there will never be a moment or circumstance when Jesus will not be with you.
He has all authority. He has called you to go. And He has promised to be with you forever. Will you go?
