We were all created to worship. Biblical Worship is a life full of response with our head, heart, hands and everything that we are in response to who God is and what He has done.
The people whom I formed for myself that they might declare my praise (Isaiah 43:21).
Worship is communal.
Worship is collective.
Worship is eternal.
We were created to exalt Jesus Christ here, now and for all eternity with ALL of our beings.
The foundation of our worship culture is Jesus. He is our Rock and our Cornerstone on which everything we do here at Cornerstone is established. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. He never changes.
Culture of The Word
We believe that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God and must be the center of everything that we do. This means everything we sing and play, everyone we lead, serve, counsel, pastor and minister to stems from what God has revealed and commanded us to do in his Word.
Culture of Discipleship
Discipleship is intentionally equipping believer’s with the Word of God through accountable relationships empowered by the Holy Spirit in order to replicate faithful followers of Jesus Christ. Here at Cornerstone Worship we want to model our lives to who Jesus is. We always want to have the fear of God; simply put we love what the Father loves and we hate what the Father hates. In all aspects of our life we want to be above reproach and ready to give an answer to the hope we have found in Jesus. We are intentional about discipleship at Cornerstone because we love Jesus.
Culture of Engagement
The culture at Cornerstone Worship is one that is engaging. We want everyone to be fully engaged in corporate worship every single week. Consistency in leadership, accessible melodies and arrangements, relevant music styles and approachable personalities from stage all help establish a culture of engagement.
A Culture of Excellence
There is a difference between worldly and godly excellence. Perfectionism is unhealthy and dangerous to the heart which leads towards performance and away from honesty. Achievement driven ministry leads to greed and the pursuit of applause and approval. Competitive ministry is tiresome and leads to wanting to be the best. Godly ministry is all-together different, valuable and good. The Godly view of excellence is much different than the worldly view of excellence. God has called us to excellence and His Word speaks highly of it: Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things (Philippians 4:8).
A Culture of Togetherness
Here at Cornerstone Worship we are a family. When God saved us he didn’t do so with the intention for us to do life alone, but rather in community. We view ourselves as a Chandelier. A chandelier is made up of many insignificant lights but when connected to the source of power and when working together in unison, it creates a unique, beautiful piece of art to drive out the darkness. Jesus calls us to be “the light of the world.” A collection of lights can shine much brighter than a single light. We want to walk in humility, love and obedience to the Father, and submission to each other, with the aim of together being the light that drives out the darkness.
We love and serve Jesus above everything else.
We extol the Word of God.
We depend on the power of the Holy Spirit.
We engage people. (On and off stage).
We deliberately choose camaraderie over comparison.
We are a community of shepherds.
We choose to be servants and consider others more important than ourselves.
We are not moved by applause or criticism.
We choose character over competency.
We value excellence in all that we do.
